Background

The idea for an African Network to end FGM/C emerged in early 2022 from a series of capacity-strengthening workshops organized by Orchid Project and funded by MannionDaniels. Orchid Project had supported 18 civil society organizations across nine African countries for over two years. These workshops, including online sessions and a regional in-person workshop in Nairobi, inspired grassroots organizations to establish the African Network. Orchid Project, with its experience in co-hosting the Asia Network to end FGM/C, played a key role in supporting the creation of the African Network
